Our sixth release comes from Calmpound out of Nelson, BC. He follows up his Wen Im Alone release from May with a peaceful yet focused collection of live compositions. The concept of Impulses circles around the ideas of concentration, patience, and intoxication. Each instrument track is a single take and Calmpound showcases his versatility by singing and playing guitar and keys in subtle fashion. It was performed, recorded, and mixed through a Zoom R-24.

The original source material comes from a live/improv performance at an event called "environments / 11:11", some years ago on nov 11, at Rahda on Main St. in Vancouver. The event came through inspiration of expanding on the positive energetic potential of the event date and the number. The performance was improvised live using hardware effects, samplers, various audio objects, guitar, and prepared CD's. The remixing and editing of this recording would happen around the same time of year, nov 11, in the years that followed.

It is supplemented with instrumental flourishes, live and synthetic drumming, and found sound recorded in an industrial warehouse.

The song is essentially an 8 minute live take performed into a piece of recording hardware. It brings together the outside world and the natural music captured with portable recording units and studio sessions. Calmpound acknowledges every individual's unique sense memory, and his vision was to allow the creation of a unique world through imagination and interpretation of those sounds.
